Accentuate the Positive

When we’re working with affirmations, be it singing, chanting or writing them, it is very important that we always utilize positive language. For example, if your goal is healthier eating habits, your affirmation might sound something like this: “I now make healthy and nourishing choices for my body at every meal.” This way of phrasing the affirmation affirms the positive and also sets the desired goal in the here and now. This is far more effective than an affirmation such as “I will stop eating junk food,” that focuses on correcting a negative, sometime in the future The more proactive and positive the affirmation, the more effective it is. It all has to do with what we feed our brain and how we craft our intention. Our minds sync up more readily to positive stimulus and input. Think about how snappy, upbeat advertising jingles resonate and stick with us. Once we’ve firmly assimilated a positive thought into our brain, it reverberates and allows us set our intentions into action, literally transforming our life. That’s how it works!
